What's actually included in the fare?

On Silversea, "all-inclusive" genuinely means all-inclusive. Unlike most cruise lines where drinks packages, speciality dining and excursions are extras, Silversea includes:

All meals in every restaurant on board — no cover charges
Unlimited wines, champagne, spirits and soft drinks throughout the ship
In-suite mini-bar restocked daily
Shore excursions in most ports (Expedition voyages)
Gratuities for all staff
Wi-Fi throughout the voyage
Butler service for every suite

Ocean vs Expedition — which is right for me?

Ocean voyages are classic ultra-luxury cruising — elegant ships visiting ports in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Northern Europe and beyond. Think grand dining, evening entertainment and glamorous port days.

Expedition voyages use ice-strengthened ships with Zodiac landing craft to reach places like Antarctica, the Arctic, the Galápagos and remote Pacific islands. Onboard scientists and naturalists lead daily excursions ashore. The dress code is more relaxed, the experience more active.

💡 Many guests do both — an ocean voyage first to experience the luxury, then an expedition to push further into the wild.

What's the dress code?

Silversea has a relaxed but elegant approach. On ocean voyages, most evenings are "Casual Chic" — smart casual, no tie required. There are typically 2–3 formal nights per voyage where guests dress for dinner.

On expedition voyages, it's almost entirely casual — expedition jacket, layers, and comfortable shoes are far more practical than evening wear.

Formal: suit or tuxedo for men, cocktail or evening gown for women
Expedition: outdoor/technical wear provided or welcome

Which suite should I choose?

All Silversea suites include butler service, so even the entry-level Vista or Veranda Suite delivers a genuinely premium experience.

Vista Suite — no balcony but generous space; best value entry point
Veranda Suite — private balcony; the most popular choice for first-timers
Medallion Suite — larger balcony and generous living area
Silver Suite and above — separate bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, large balcony
Owner's Suite / Grand Suite — the most spacious accommodation at sea

Getting to and from the ship

Silversea offers an optional S.I.L.V.E.R. door-to-door service that handles everything — flights, transfers, luggage collection from home and pre/post cruise hotel stays.

If you prefer to arrange your own travel, Silversea can still organise the ship-to-airport transfer and recommend hotels near the embarkation port.

💡 Many guests find the door-to-door package removes all the stress of travel logistics — particularly for exotic embarkation ports like Ushuaia (Antarctica) or Tokyo.

Silversea fares appear higher than standard cruise lines — but the comparison isn't fair because of what's included. When you add drinks packages, speciality dining, excursions, gratuities and Wi-Fi to a typical luxury cruise line fare, Silversea often represents better value than it first appears.
